Licensed In-Home Multi-Age Centre — Thoughtfully designed care for every stage of early childhood!

Our Program:

The Benefits of a Multi-Age Centre

Why Choose us?

A licensed in-home multi-age childcare centre is a type of care that allows a wider range of ages to be in a group together rather than being separated by age category. Something special happens in this setting: children take on different roles within in the group and in turn build unique skills. The older children learn to take leadership roles within the group when organizing games/play and learn to help those younger children with everyday tasks. The younger children age up through the program and end up being leaders themselves thus bringing it full circle!

  • Meeting each child where they are at and helping them grow at their own speed
  • Smaller group of 8 children maximum to ensure each child gets the time and attention that they need to thrive
  • Maximum 3 children under the age of 3 at one time
  • Not only do in-home centres maintain a cozy vibe, they also divert funds that would be needed for a pricey commercial space back into equipment and supplies that children utilize on a daily basis

School Readiness:

Preschool vs. In-Home Multi-Age

What's the Difference?

A centre that holds a preschool license type is a centre that runs a specific program for no more than 4 hours per day. In the eyes of Island Health, the term preschool program refers to the shortened daily length of care and age of the children rather than a specific type of programming. An in-home multi-age centre provides full day care to a wider range of ages. Both program types choose their own curriculum and in turn approach school readiness however they desire!

  • School readiness is a very broad spectrum of skills - we work through these skills at all ages whether it's elevated or simplified to a developmentally appropriate level
  • Older children who have outgrown nap partake in elevated kindergarten prep
  • Daily schedule that supports routine building
Food:

Lunch & Snacks Not Provided

Why don't we provide food?

In order to keep parent fees as low as possible, lunches and snacks are not provided. Families bring in a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack via a lunch kit everyday. We do try and make this as easy on parents as possible by the following:

  • No need for an icepack - there's enough room in fridge for each child's lunch
  • Warm-ups are welcome - microwave on site and used whenever needed
  • Only food items related to active allergies in the centre are banned
